Information Technology is the new frontier. This qualification will open doors for you in a variety of technological endeavours. The Advanced Diploma of Information Technology, in particular, will be in high demand by both employers and other industry specialists. The course includes training in a full suite of in-demand skills such programming, cyber security, cloud computing and business analysis.

Course Overview

This qualification reflects the role of individuals in a variety of information and communications technology (ICT) roles who have significant experience in specialist technical skills, or managerial business and people management skills.

Individuals in these roles carry out complex tasks in a specialist field, working independently, leading a team or a strategic direction of a business. They apply their skills across a wide range of industries and business functions, or as a business owner (sole trader/contractor).

The skills required for these roles may include, but are not restricted to:

  • advanced data management information: creating, designing and monitoring complex systems that store data, and optimising organisational knowledge management
  • cyber security: protecting sensitive data and information through security architecture, and developing disaster recovery and contingency plans
  • full stack web development: building advanced user interfaces, developing representational state transfer application program interfaces (REST APIs) and designing user experience solutions
  • further programming: applying advanced ICT languages to maintain security and manage data.
  • IT strategy and organisational development: managing and communicating strategic ICT business solutions
  • systems development and analysis: modelling and testing data objects, data processes and preferred ICT system solutions.

Entry Requirements

Am I Eligible?

  • Entry Requirements

    There are no stated entry requirements in the Training Package for entry into ICT60120 Advanced Diploma of Information Technology.
    International students must be 18 years of age and provide evidence of the following published entry requirements:

    Year 12 or equivalent and above, and
    English Language Entry Requirements:
    IELTS score 5.5 minimum (no band less than 5.0); or equivalent.
    Any AQF qualification at the Certificate III level or above in any discipline area, delivered and assessed in English only, will be sufficient for meeting both the academic and English language entry requirements.

  • English Language Requirements

    IELTS 6.0 with no band less than 5.5
    Completion of 12 weeks of General English at Upper-Intermediate level or equivalent with a minimum B grade.
    Completion of Cambridge Course B2(FCE) with a minimum B grade.
    Completion of EAP1 with a minimum B grade.

  • STUDY MODE + TIMETABLE
    • Face to face (online during COVID-19) classes – 15 hours per week Self-study – 5 hours per week
    • Classes are scheduled Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 9:00pm offering both day and evening sessions. Students are required to attend classes on campus or online 15 hours per week.

    Students undertake a range of practical assessments for each unit of competency. The methods of assessment will vary according to the requirements of each unit of competence and these include:
